About Me

I'm an eye specialist with over 30 years of experience, and I have a special interest in caring for children's vision. Over the years, I've had the privilege of helping little ones see the world more clearly—whether it’s their first eye check-up, managing lazy eye, or ensuring healthy vision as they grow.
I trained in Ophthalmology at some of India’s leading institutions and am also a member of the General Medical Council in the UK. At HealthLand Clinics, I aim to make every child feel comfortable, cared for, and confident during their visit. Eye care doesn’t have to be scary—and I’m here to make sure it’s not

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should my child have their first eye exam?

Your child should have their first eye exam within the first year of life or as recommended by a pediatric specialist. Early eye check-ups help detect vision problems, eye alignment issues, or developmental concerns at an early stage. At Healthland, we encourage regular eye examinations for children to support healthy vision development and provide early treatment if any concerns are identified.

2. What are the signs of vision problems in young children?

Common signs of vision problems in young children include squinting, frequent eye rubbing, sitting too close to screens, difficulty focusing, headaches, watery eyes, or trouble recognizing objects from a distance. Some children may also show poor concentration or avoid reading and visual activities. At Healthland, regular eye check-ups help detect vision issues early and ensure proper treatment for healthy eye development and better learning experiences.

3. What is amblyopia (lazy eye) and how is it treated in children?

Amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye,” is a condition where one eye develops weaker vision because the brain favors the other eye. It usually develops during early childhood and, if untreated, can affect long-term vision. Treatment may include prescription glasses, eye patches, vision therapy, or treatment for underlying eye conditions. At Healthland, early eye examinations help detect amblyopia at the right time, allowing effective treatment and better visual development for your child.

4. Can too much screen time damage my child's eyes?

Excessive screen time can cause eye strain, dryness, headaches, blurred vision, and difficulty focusing in children. While screens do not permanently damage the eyes, long hours without breaks may affect eye comfort and overall visual health. At Healthland, we recommend limiting screen time, encouraging outdoor activities, and scheduling regular eye check-ups to support healthy vision development in children.

5. What is childhood myopia and how fast does it progress?

Childhood myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a condition where children can see nearby objects clearly but have difficulty seeing distant objects. It commonly develops during school-age years and may progress as the child grows. Factors such as genetics, excessive screen time, and limited outdoor activity can increase the risk. At Healthland, regular eye examinations help detect myopia early and monitor its progression, allowing timely treatment and better management of your child’s vision health.

6. What is the difference between a normal eye doctor and a pediatric eye doctor?
A pediatric eye doctor specializes in diagnosing and treating eye conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. They have additional training to manage child-specific vision problems and understand how to examine young patients comfortably. A regular eye doctor treats patients of all ages but may not focus specifically on children’s eye development and behavior. At Healthland, our pediatric eye specialists provide child-friendly care to ensure accurate diagnosis, early treatment, and healthy vision development for your child.

7. Does my child need glasses if they fail a school vision screening?
If your child fails a school vision screening, it does not always mean they need glasses, but it does indicate that a detailed eye examination is important. Vision screenings can identify possible issues such as blurry vision, focusing problems, or eye alignment concerns. At Healthland, our specialists perform comprehensive eye check-ups to determine whether your child needs glasses or any other treatment, ensuring proper vision development and better learning experiences.
